Niagara Falls USA & Canada

American Falls, USA is in the foreground, Horseshoe Falls, Canada, is in the background. This view is from my hotel room on the 23rd floor of the Sheraton Hotel on the Canadian side. Niagra means Thundering Waters.
American Falls is 180 feet high.
75,000 gallons per second flow over the American Falls.

In the last 12,600 years the falls have traveled 7 miles up river due to erosion. They currently move at a rate of 3 inches per year.

Horseshoe Falls is 167 feet high and 2,500 feet wide.
675,000 gallons per second flow over the Horseshoe Falls. The is the fall some people try to ride in barrels. Not a good idea.

Niagra River is the world's largest river per volume.

Dusk at the falls.
View of the lighted Horseshoe Falls and Niagara, Canada at night.
American Falls lighted. The Canadians light the falls each evening for about three hours. The lights change colors and it is very beautiful to watch from any view point.
